Wow that takes me back. It was probably a weak or defective F/P spring (not locking the button fully in place), or a bad or incorrect take down button. When it happened to me it was my own fault: I was building up a J-22 from parts and installed the wrong take down button. Sure looked like it was right, and it seemed to fit okay.. Riffe
