Overview The Nebraska Reading Improvement Act (Nebraska Revised Statute 79-2601) went into effect in 2019, requiring school districts to administer a Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) approved reading assessment screener three times each year for all kindergarten through 3rd grade students.Within the FastBridge system, any scores collected during the screening period will be color-coded according to school norms (i.e., percentile groups) on the various reports. Scores collected outside of the screening period display in gray on the reports. The FastBridge Learning system has established default benchmark levels at the 15th and 40th percentile ranks based on a national database of student scores. School districts can select different benchmark levels to be applied to all students over an entire school year.FastBridge assessing takes place three times a year. The three assessment windows are as follows. Individual assessment dates will vary by school. Beginning of Year (BOY): September 5, 2023, to October 6, 2023.
